Commercial Modern Music (Programme Code: DT506)


A newly approved Level 8 programme at DIT titled: Commercial Modern Music (Programme Code: DT506) – it's the first of its kind in the country! The BA (Hons) includes a mixture of classroom study, live performance and specialist workshops from BIMM's studios and lecture rooms, equipped with a choice of vintage and state-of-the-art music gear in The BIMM Dublin building located in the city centre. The programme will be delivered by active professional tutors, all of whom have a variety of touring, performing and session experience, and a background in the professional music industry.Applicants interested in applying for DT506 must do so through the CAO, the deadline of which has been extended to 1st May. Just a quick reminder that the on-line applications system is up and running.

Applicants can now apply for courses on line at www.cavaninstitute.ie

Any First Year Mtec students who wish to apply for Second Year courses need to do so On-Line rather than fill in the application form as this will greatly reduce the administration work involved in processing applications.

Shave or Dye

Shave or dye on Monday 22nd to Thursday 25th Feb, block B rooms 101,103,104, the hairdressing students will be available to carry out any colouring or cutting service whether its pink, blonde, blue or brown!! Mohicans, short, back and sides all available to male and female clients. All we ask in return is a donation to charity either on the day or via the web on http://www.mycharity.ie/event/cavan_institute/.
Please note some colours may require a skin test 24/48 hrs prior to the service.
Staff are also welcome male and female!!! If you dare, if not a blowdry, trim and donation will work too!!!!

Lunchtime Concert

The PAM class are again performing another thrilling lunch time gig. We will be performing on the 11th of February Room 206 Block C at 1:00PM (I.E) This Thursday. It will be a great hour of musical enjoyment. All acts playing will be listed in the program which will be handed out on the day. All are welcome.

Student ID Cards

Students who have queries in relation to their Student ID card (lost, never got one, etc) should go to the old library in the main building at the following times:

Thursday 4th February - 10.00am to 3.30pm

Friday 5th February - 10.00am to 1.00pm

Monday 8th February - 1.30pm to 3.30pm


Further times after the mid term break will be allocated to ID card queries.

PAM Performance












The past few months have been busy for the Music students in Cavan Institute. The students have had a number of gigs in the college canteen including a performance at the Fun Day in December.
