Annual Prayer Service

The annual prayer service will take place on Friday next, 11th December 2009 at 10:45 in St Phelims, Cathedral, Cavan.

Rev Ken Clarke, Bishop of Kilmore will preside over the Service. Also in attendance will be Bishop Leo O’Reilly, Bishop of Kilmore, Rev Mark Lidwell and our Chaplin, Fr Gerry Comiskey.

The Prayer Service will be an opportunity for us all to reflect and remember recently deceased students, staff and other friends and family members.
Remembrance Tree
A remembrance tree has been placed in the Canteen in Block A. Students and staff are encouraged to take one piece of paper each and write the names of deceased relatives and friends and hang it up on the tree before next Thursday evening.

The tree will be brought to the prayer service.
Families and friends of recently deceased students and staff have been invited to the service and to show our support for them at this difficult time, a large attendance at the service would be greatly appreciated.

Student Representatives to the Board of Management

Please note the dates for the nominations and election of Student Representatives to the Board of Management of Cavan Institute have been changed as follows:



Closing date for Nominations is now Friday 11/12/09 at 4:00pm.


The election will take place on Thursday 17/12/09 from 9:00am to 4:00pm in Room 106 - Block A.


Nomination forms can be obtained from the Administration office in Block A.

A Christmas Carol

Cavan Institute presents the Charles Dickens Classic A Christmas Carol - The Musical. Tickets are on sale now from Brendan Brady (New Library) and Cavan Credit Union. There are sill a few tickets at the special price of €5 students, €10 Adults.

Prayer Service

Prayer Service is on Friday 11th December at 10.45.

Health Centre

The new Health Centre is up and running and Dr. Thomas Prior and Dr. Mairead Beirne are available to see students on Tuesdays from 3.00 pm - 5.00 pm and on Thursdays from 12.30 pm - 2.30 pm. No appointment is necessary at the moment but this may change depending on demand. The Health Promotion team also operate from the Centre.

Elections to Board of Management of Cavan Institute

Elections to Board of Management of Cavan Institute
Elections for student representatives to the Board of Management will now take place on Thursday 10/12/09 on not on Thursday 3/10/09 as previously announced.

Voting will take place in Room 106 (old library beside Canteen in Block A) from 9:00am to 4:00pm

The following are the Candidates:
Female Panel:

Male Panel
Padraig Duffy Fur/1
Bernard Engle Lab/1
Ayodeji Saanu Soa/1

As there is only one female candidate, Francis Leonard is automatically elected.

All students are encouraged to vote in this election.
